POLICIES
Policies and Rules
- Tryouts are held in May for the Summer Program, and again in September for the Fall Ball Program in order to assess the talent and choose appropriate teams and groups for practice and competition.
- Payment is on a bi-annual basis. After tryouts, players register in the THRIVA secure online system hosted by the Active Network. Each player will create a “player profile,” which includes information such as emergency medical contacts, allergies, and demographic information. Payment options are by credit card or e-check. Before registration is allowed, parents must review the liability waivers and consent forms. Each player must be a member of USLacrosse, for insurance purposes. A proper and current USLacrosse number must be entered in order to register.
- In order to get the most out of this membership, we do expect that our members attend each practice, play-day and event. If a player cannot attend practice, they are expected to contact Jen Lee at bayareawave@gmail.com at least 24 hours before the training session is scheduled to occur. Missing repeated practices or without prior notice may affect a player’s membership status and the ability to represent WAVE in scrimmages or tournaments.
- WAVE will determine teams based on our professional assessment of a number of factors including, but not limited to, skill, experience, fitness, commitment, attitude, application/adaptation/execution of teaching points and system of play.
- It is intended that “Select” team members attend the specific tournaments that they are eligible for based on tournament age requirements/restrictions. ALL tournaments cost extra based on registrations fees, lodging, and travel expenses. Players will be confirmed for each tournament’s roster, and asked to pay their Tournament Fees/Deposit in the THRIVA online system hosted by the Active Network.
- Players chosen to the “Futures” Team may have the opportunity to move up or be invited to tournaments with a record good performance over time. Local tournaments and scrimmages are open to all players and the roster will be invited based on the appropriate competition level.
- You cannot be affiliated with another lacrosse club or represent another outside team during the club season, unless WAVE directors agree to approve it. Like most clubs, we highly discourage players to commit to outside teams that take away from their commitment to WAVE.
Fees & Refund Policy
- WAVE will keep records of all transactions. However, we encourage parents to keep records as well.
- At times, WAVE will charge an “administrative fee” for transactions on the Thriva online system.
- If a player’s gear is lost or stolen, there will be $25 fine in addition to the cost of the gear, and may take up to 6 weeks to be replaced.
- Tournament fees are due by the stated deadline. There will be no refunds, or future application of credit, if cancellation occurs within 3 weeks of the tournament.
- Member dues must be paid by the Due Date specified by WAVE, and no later than the date of the first practice.
- There is a $250 non-refundable portion to each member’s seasonal dues, regardless of injury, illness, or conflict. After June 1, there will be no refund of membership fee, unless a written request is emailed accompanied by a copy of a doctor’s note. In the event of injury that ends participation, the balance will be applied to a future WAVE sponsored event.
- WAVE players may be asked to leave the program (with no refund) if a staff member believes a player to be a distraction or deems their behavior to be unsportsmanlike, flagrant or obsessive. Language that is inappropriate, profane, taunting or derogatory will be grounds to ask a player to leave the program. There is a ZERO tolerance policy for drugs, alcohol, or illegal substances. Minors suspected of possession or use may will be released from the program or tournament at the player/parent’s expense.
