ABOUT US

Mission

The Bay Area WAVE is a premier club team for girls playing lacrosse. We are a high school and youth development program which meets outside of the scholastic/NCJLA spring lacrosse season. We believe that the off-season is where skills are developed and knowledge of the game is broadened.

Our mission is simple:
We strive to provide playing opportunities and high-level coaching for girls playing lacrosse.

Our focus is broad:

  • We compete nationally in elite tournaments, providing a next-level competitive experience to our players, while showcasing our players to college coaches for maximum exposure and recruitment opportunities
  • We are proficient at teaching players to play lacrosse who have no experience
  • We elevate our players’ game, no matter their level
  • We inspire players through inspired teaching
  • We use creative drills, practice plans, and progressions so that players build on their skills
  • We creatively teach strategy of the game and tricks of the trade
  • We positively encourage our players’ competitiveness
  • We work with the whole athlete, incorporating speed, agility, quickness, and conditioning into our program
  • We offer guidance in the college recruiting process and serve as resources for our members
  • We strive to put the “FUN” in Fundamentals

We responsibly teach the rules of the game…
We progressively teach the skills of the game…
We coach in the spirit of the game.

    We are passionate about lacrosse!

Philosophy: The 4 “C’s”

We have been successful impacting the competitiveness of our players.  We promote a fun, teaching-based atmosphere that encourages the inner BALLER in each of us.

The cycle of the 4 “C’s” is a proven formula for success and a foundation of our philosophy.  With CONSISTENCY in attendance, application of what we teach, and a COMMITMENT to practicing and attending games and events, CONFIDENCE will rise.  COMPETITIVENESS will follow.

Each element influences the others…A stronger, more skilled, and talented player will emerge. Lacrosse confidence will translate into personal confidence.  We thrive on watching our players grow and mature on and off the field.

The 4 C's

A Note to Coaches

We will take your players, teach and train them, and give them back to you better!  Your team will benefit exponentially depending on the number of players involved.

….Evidence of this is all around you.

We will continue to teach the fundamentals that you spend so much time working on.  When your offense can’t flow because of poor passes and dropped balls…let us decrease your stress level by developing their stick skills, in the hope that you can run that higher level offense next year or convert on your fast breaks.  As for your goalies, defenders and midfield ride…it’s hard to simulate the speed of good 1v1 challenges or the power of a full field fast breaking team—we will expose your players to a higher level and wider talent pool.  When they return to you, they will be stronger individuals with better footwork and technique, so you can transition them into any team defensive style that you choose.

  • We understand that sometimes it is hard to scrimmage full field based on a small squad size—we will be able to develop full field transition offense and defensive rides with access to a deep talent pool, and many more players of their ability.
  • Playing with us out-of-season provides the opportunity to learn different positions and expand their knowledge of the game.  They get many more touches of the ball.  They compete with and against the best talent in Northern California and across the country.
  • Your players will be exposed to many different styles of players and players with different moves.  Learning from peers is an exceptional method of learning; seeing many different body types in motion can give a player what they need to have confidence in picking up a new skill or trying to emulate a peer or coach.
  • WAVE players become very good friends with players from many different teams.  Having fun playing out of season increases their enjoyment of the sport.  They will enjoy connecting with WAVE teammates during your spring season when they will compete against each other.  This competition is fun and will improve their competitiveness when their friends become rivals!
  • Your players will return to you with higher Lax IQ!
